Training
Bridget Hay is a dressage trainer, rider, and breeder known for her thoughtful approach to developing horses from the ground up. At their beautiful Rainbow Ridge Farm, Bridget worked alongside her late mother, Barbara Hay, to build a respected breeding and training program centered around producing quality warmblood sport horses for dressage. Together, they developed generations of horses with an emphasis on rideability, strong fundamentals, and long-term partnership.
With a foundation rooted in classical dressage principles and practical horsemanship, Bridget has successfully trained and competed numerous horses through the FEI levels, including many homebred horses. Her work reflects a deep appreciation for careful, correct training and for preserving the qualities that make a horse both competitive and enjoyable to ride.
Bridget is also currently developing our stallion Quebec, and we are excited for the future as she continues his training and begins to bring him into the show ring. With her experience producing talented, rideable horses and her commitment to thoughtful development, we are proud to have Quebec as part of Bridget’s program.
Breeding
At Swallowtail Farm, our approach to breeding is guided by a respect for heritage, a commitment to quality, and a belief in producing horses with both purpose and longevity.
Quebec represents these principles. He reflects the classical Lusitano type, combining natural balance, expression, and a generous, willing character.
We hope to offer a limited number of breedings in the near future, carefully selecting mares in keeping with our philosophy of quality over quantity. The objective remains the production of horses of type, rideability, and athletic capacity—suited for both the demands of modern sport and the tradition from which they come.
Import Guidance
We understand that importing a horse can feel complex and overwhelming. With trusted connections in both the U.S. and Portugal, we help guide you through every step of the process—making it smoother, more transparent, and less stressful. We’re proud of the horses we’ve helped match with new owners, and of the lasting partnerships that come from thoughtful, well-supported decisions.
